Inspired by slowness, contemplation, melancholy, delicate beauty, the ineffable; maam (Marcus Mack) blends improvisation, minimalist motifs, and subtle synthesis to create mesmerizing piano-driven recordings. Drawing on his roots in gospel and jazz, where spirituality and technique meet, this quiet yet resonant sound is thrown into soul-stirring relief. Heavily influenced by the works of artists such as Nils Frahm and Johann Johannsson, maam explores the diversity of melancholy on his intimate neo-classical debut, Gilead.

Where We Begin is a story of Jimmy, a Korean American finding a sense of place through historic places. We explore Jimmy's race, relationships, family and architecture as a not so "tiger mom" parenting style may have sculpted his sense of identity.
